The Union MoS highlighted that artificial intelligence can greatly improve healthcare, education, and business, but it must be used responsibly. She stressed the need for strict rules, data protection, and transparent AI decisions to ensure fairness. In short, AI should benefit society while being safe and accountable.
Anupriya Patel said AI is essential in healthcare today. She stressed it must be used safely, responsibly, and ethically. The goal is to use technology in a way that benefits everyone without causing harm.
She said AI is key to India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and achieving universal health coverage. By using AI, India can provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare to all, despite having nearly 20% of the world’s disease burden.
Patel inaugurated the NCAIHC-2026 at IMS-BHU’s KN Udupa auditorium and addressed professors and students on AI’s role in healthcare and education. The conference aimed to promote AI for improving health services and learning.
The three-day conference, called ‘AI for Viksit Bharat: Transforming Health Care and Learning’, gathered experts from all over India. They met to discuss how AI can make healthcare and education better for everyone.
She mentioned initiatives like expanding telemedicine and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, as well as creating India-focused, affordable, and scalable AI solutions. She emphasized that while AI can bring big changes, it must be used with strong rules, data privacy, transparency, and training for healthcare professionals.
BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said it's time to move beyond just talking about AI and start responsibly using it in the healthcare system at IMS-BHU.
He proposed a task force to ensure safe and structured AI implementation with proper training.
UP Ayush Minister Daya Shankar Mishra noted the heavy workload at Sir Sunderlal Hospital serving Varanasi and nearby regions.
He urged healthcare professionals to combine compassion and human values with new technology. He expressed confidence that AI and digital tools will make the hospital an even stronger regional healthcare hub.
Reena Ashish, Director of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and Prof SN Sankhwar, Director of IMS-BHU, also attended and honored the occasion.
