An effective collaboration gathered private sector partners to discover solutions. To promote solutions for cognitive health, a program was conducted on May 21-22, where two of Houston’s largest industry experts from the healthcare and energy sectors came together to highlight solutions. The program was held at Texas Medical Center’s Helix Park. The program highlighted ‘Brain capital’. Brain health focuses on the prevention of diseases and healthy brain function. The brain capital merges brain health with essential factors like emotional, cognitive, and social skills, like creativity, empathy, critical thinking, and adaptability. The positive brain economy is promoting an economic system elevated by healthy brains. This will fulfill society’s demand for human brain capital.
Various speakers elaborated on the development of the city of Houston with the help of the energy transformation. The transitional energy can be converted into a model for positive brain economy. The expert's discussion further led to an examination of the parallel factors of the industries and the development of the Houston energy transition by introducing the brain health model.
Professor of electrical and computer engineering and bioengineering at Rice University, Jacob Robinson, said that negative brain health is a serious problem, for which the solution is to fill the gap between incentivized optimization for wellness and incentivizing revenue. The brain capital is the epicenter of society.
The Howard R. Hughes Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Rice, Amy Dittmar, spoke about the benefits of Houston and the creation of bolstering discoveries and innovations. It’s possible with the strong roots of the healthcare, academia, and industrial sectors of the region. Additionally, the innovation is fueled when policy, investment, and science build an alliance to accelerate growth in various markets.
