Johnson & Johnson, a popular and leading company in eye health, declared an expansion of the portfolio of presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses with the introduction of the TECNIS Odyssey IOL innovation in Europe, Canada, and the Middle East. This innovation will improve patients' vision, which will eliminate the need for glasses. The TECNIS platform integrates proprietary materials and advanced optics and provides high-contrast and clear vision. This expansion to innovation is an advancement to the portfolio and presents an opportunity to perform excellently globally.

Advancement

The Tecnis Odyssey IOL has expanded and enhanced Johnson & Johnson’s portfolio of Presbyopia correction IOLs. The upgradation to full visual IOL provides 93% of patients free from glasses at every distance. The low-light performance and image contrast make this innovation more effective. TECNIS Odyssey helps surgeons provide reliability and consistency in patient recovery.

Latest Innovation and Progress in TECNIS Odyssey IOL

The precision vision enables patients to perform regular activities and read. Over 94% of patients were fulfilled with their vision without glasses. It is a unique innovation, including a freeform diffractive surface introduced for cutting a bridge of near, far, and intermediate distances and providing undisturbed vision at all distances. About 97% were gratified with distance vision, and 96% of patients were able to read a tablet and a smartphone. TECNIS works in any lighting that reduces night vision interruption. TECNIS Odyssey IOL enables image quality better than PanOptix day and night. This will leverage a satisfying nighttime experience. Over 92% of patients were happy with their vision potential to read street signs and see steps.

The TECNIS platform encourages patients to tick the right solution. The availability of this advanced portfolio in the competitive and strong regions consists of both TECNIS PureSee IOL and TECNIS Odyssey IOL. It is also available in Japan, the US, Puerto Rico, Latin America, and APAC. The TECNIS PureSee has not yet received PMA clearance in the US.

Head of the ophthalmology department at Brest University Hospital in France, Professor Beatrice Cochener-Lamard, said, “From my experience, the TECNIS Odyssey IOL is unique because of its consistency and ability to provide excellent results to patients. Additionally, the advanced design with the potential to tolerate refractive error, this innovation is an excellent approach to vision treatment."
