The new site of carbon neutral is a 375,000 square foot facility, which holds a capacity of around 40 million laboratory pipette production tips per week. This site will support life-saving therapies and medicines with constant production and development in the us for ages to come.

Need for Pipette Tips and Thermo’s New Mebane Site

The pipette tips are complex tools for diagnostics and research, providing accurate liquid handling in increased volume applications like diagnostic testing and disease studies. The thermo-fisher manufacturers tip with stringent quality control and quality materials for diminishing contamination, providing consistency and accuracy. The new Mebane site is built to bolster efficiency using advanced automation that is capable of producing 96 tips every 12 seconds and 5,000 finished assemblies in an hour. The site will ease operations, featuring automation in packaging and shipping to provide a better customer experience.

Updates of the New Site

The new Mebane site, till now, has hired 40 individuals and will open 50 jobs in manufacturing, business, and engineering operations. Thermo Fisher recently employed an estimated 7,800 colleagues in 13 sites in NC. It will involve a center of excellence for laboratory in Asheville, the manufacturing sites and three life sciences in Durham, a pharmaceutical manufacturing site in High Point and Greenville, and a distribution center in Raleigh.

The site is built from a $192.5 million contract aligned with the US Department of Defense (DoD) and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), granted in 2021. Additionally, the investment of around $1 billion in R&D in the US on an annual basis, the thermos fisher extended in size in the US from 2017, with hiring over 50,000 people in the US currently.
