U.S. Donates 24 Portable X-Ray Machines to Indonesia to Boost Healthcare Services

On June 3, 2025, the U.S. government donated 24 portable X-ray machines worth $2 million to Indonesia to support healthcare services and help reduce tuberculosis.

The diversified and well-established factors expand in areas such as security funding and economic development. Being the largest donor, the popular contribution to HIV/AIDS received a certain level of appreciation and encouraged several other countries to contribute to the healthcare sector.

The United States government initiated a donation of 24 portable X-ray machines to Indonesia’s government on 3rd June 2025. The government’s contribution to another government of Indonesia is elevating the healthcare market. This is a support for the efforts of the country to extend the availability of the required healthcare services. During the handover ceremony, Charge d’affaires (CDA) Health C. Merritt showcased the equipment to the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin. With the initiative, the United States is bolstering Indonesia’s healthcare potential.

About the portable X-ray machines

The portable X-ray machines cost around $2 million, which will benefit healthcare workers and professionals as well. It will help to perform a complex diagnostic procedure, mainly in areas where medical imaging has been limited. Further, the machines will be delivered to 24 district hospitals in four provinces. It will help Indonesia reduce the tuberculosis rate. The US government’s donation of 145,000 doses of TB preventive treatment drugs, costing $1.5 million in the year 2024.
