India’s healthcare innovation ecosystem has received a massive boost with the expansion of the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam. The zone has inaugurated its new World Trade Center (WTC) Tower, a 1 lakh sq. ft. facility designed to accelerate the growth of medtech startups. This next-generation hub aims to provide innovators with everything they need under one roof from research and prototyping to regulatory support and global networking.

The new area is a complete ecosystem rather than merely a building. With its cutting-edge labs, rapid prototyping units, testing facilities, and co-working spaces, it helps startups go from concept to reality at lightning speed. The zone also provides advice on certifications and compliance, two areas that frequently present significant challenges for new businesses looking to enter the healthcare industry. With these resources available, business owners can cut expenses and development time while concentrating on innovation.

The largest MedTech incubator in India, AIC-AMTZ MediValley, is at the center of this expansion. It is now getting ready to double its capacity and accommodate 300 ventures by 2026, having supported about 150 startups to date. Along with international partnerships with WHO, the World Health Innovation Forum, and TiE, the initiative has the support of both domestic and international organizations such as DBT-BIRAC, NITI Aayog, DPIIT, ICMR, and the Department of Pharmaceuticals. This combination of domestic and foreign assistance guarantees that startups not only prosper in India but also have access to global markets.

Dr. Jitendra Sharma, CEO of AMTZ and Chairman of MediValley, highlighted that the expansion is about “empowering the next generation of MedTech leaders.” He emphasized that even small ideas can now transform into impactful healthcare solutions thanks to the robust support system within AMTZ. A new 50,000 sq. ft. incubation hub is also being planned to meet rising demand, signaling the strong momentum in India’s medtech sector.

With its 270-acre campus and partnerships with leading institutions like IIM Visakhapatnam, IIT Tirupati, and the upcoming MedTech University, AMTZ has created an environment where startups can innovate with confidence. Founders already incubated at MediValley praise the ecosystem for cutting down the time from concept to market. This expansion firmly positions India as a rising global hub for medtech innovation, aligning with the government’s Make in India vision and strengthening the country’s healthcare future.
