The leading pharmaceutical industries showcased public-private partnership and innovation at the Healthcare Innovation Forum 2025, which was co-hosted in Hanoi by the pharma group and FPT. The event highlighted the pharmaceutical industry of Vietnam and its operations under the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Eurocham). The event was presented as a multi-stakeholder platform for highlighting a development in science and technology. The event also revolved around influential AI that elevates healthcare innovation and encourages digital transformation in public health services.

Darrell Oh, chairman of the pharma group, reassures the company’s commitment to contributing to Vietnam’s Vision 2045. Supporting the technological advancement in the healthcare market, the acceptance shows that around 80% of pharmaceutical providers approach AI for drug discovery, and 95% of companies invest in the technology. AI technology is capable of reducing drug development time to one year in comparison to the standard duration of 5 to 6 years. AI in clinical trials is low-cost and effective. It reduces cost by 70% and timeline by 80%.

Views and Statements

Chairman of the Vietnamese tech giant FPT Corporation, Dr. Truong Gia Binh, said that to support Vietnam’s advancement, the healthcare sector is achieving 3 important areas, which are PPP, regulation, and innovation. Further, he demonstrated the transformative efforts of healthcare industries and the adoption of treating regulation as a catalyst to survive competition. This change provides quick access to new medicines, as noticed in countries such as Japan and the US. Additionally, Vietnam can develop into a hub for drug development and AI-powered clinical trials by introducing tech talent, including one million IT workers. Half of the workers are expected to adopt AI proficiency.

He further added that, just like software success, the pharmaceuticals will also accelerate their innovation.
