Cepheid, a Danaher organization, and a significant player in molecular diagnostics, unveil the third generation of the GeneXpert technology at the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) Annual Scientific Meeting in a special booth presentation on Tuesday. The next-generation system is intended to increases the possibilities of PCR-driven diagnostics while preserving the simplicity, reliability, and flexibility that have made the GeneXpert technology the world's most popular sample-to-answer PCR testing technology.
At product launch, the novel GeneXpert technology is intended to support Cepheid's inclusive menu of U.S. FDA-cleared tests, and the familiar workflows workshops, while presenting an entirely incorporated touchscreen interface, redesigned software and a more intuitive customer experience.
Predicting future, the technology is designed to support a new generation of Xpert tests and applications, incorporating high-plex panel testing, rapid time-to-result, and sample-to-answer solution which spread to next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows.
"Healthcare providers increasingly need access to different types of molecular testing, yet those capabilities are often spread across multiple instruments and workflows," said Connie Savor, Chief Medical Officer at Cepheid. "The third-generation GeneXpert system is designed to bring a broader spectrum of molecular diagnostic capabilities onto a single system, helping clinicians access the insights they need to make informed decisions across the continuum of care. This launch serves as an example of how Cepheid and Danaher are helping solve some of the hardest problems in healthcare with global partners, including clinicians."
"This is Cepheid's next chapter," said James Green, Chief Technology Officer at Cepheid. "We designed the third-generation GeneXpert system to support increasingly sophisticated molecular diagnostics while maintaining the simplicity, scalability, and ease of use that customers expect from GeneXpert systems. It's how our teams continuously accelerate ideas to impact."
Like all GeneXpert technologies, the novel system provides true random-access testing, enabling samples to be processed as they arrive rather than in batches. This gives laboratories the flexibility to prioritize emergency testing while maintaining rapid access to actionable output in a broad range of medical care sector.
The first technology to launch the compact four-module conformation, which is forecast to begin shipping to U.S. customer in the coming months. Also configurations, including higher-capacity GeneXpert technology and GeneXpert Infinity technology, are in development.
According to Towards Healthcare, the next-gen delivery system market is projected to experience significant growth, with estimates suggesting the market size will increase from USD 162.11 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 442.37 billion by 2035, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.8% from 2026 to 2035, driven by, next generation delivery technologies are goal to creates therapeutics that are simple to use, needs less frequent dosing and are more suitable allowing patients to spend less time treating their disease. Next-gen techniques such as micellar technology or hydrogels supports to stabilize fragile biologics and enhance the absorption of poorly soluble elements.

Cepheid, a Danaher organization and a leader in molecular diagnostics, is intended to enhancing medical care by ground-breaking molecular diagnostics which integrate speed, precision, and flexibility. Cepheid's GeneXpert technology and Xpert tests automate highly complex and time-consuming manual technology, offering an advance way for institutions of any size to perform world-class PCR technology. Cepheid's wide test portfolio spans respiratory infections, blood virology, women's and sexual health, TB and evolving infectious diseases, healthcare-related infectious diseases, oncology, and human genetics. The organization services deliver actionable outputs where they are required most from central laboratories and hospitals to near-patient settings.
