Announcement

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council held a medical trade show, Medical Taiwan 2025, which attracted 316 exhibitors from 14 countries. The show highlighted advanced technology products fueled by government support for healthy ageing, addressing a decline in its population by 2070. The medical Taiwan 2025 exhibition introduced high-tech products for all age care, medical supplies, and smart healthcare. The event was crowded with products and technology from almost 316 exhibitors.

Taiwan is heading towards advancement to be an established and aged society by 2025, with only 20% aging 65 or older. This is the focus of Taiwan’s National Development Council. Whereas, the population is predicted to diminish by 7.8 million in 45 years, effective from now, because of low birth rates. Taiwan is planning to take a step ahead with its long-term care plan 3.0, which might be introduced by next year. The 3.0 plan will accelerate social services, community, medical, and integration across homes and contribute to end-of-life care and healthy aging.

Event

The most attractive theme of the event was AI in healthcare. The AI in the healthcare market has witnessed a growth of 39% from 2025 to 2030 for $110.61 billion. The AI-powered imaging systems, remote care technologies, and smart hospital setups. The startups from Israel, the US, Taiwan, South Korea, and Belgium demonstrated health screening platforms, mental health solutions, diagnostic tools, and personalized rehabilitation devices. The show further showcased technology from Inventec Corp., Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd, National Chung Hsing University, and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, including regenerative treatments for chronic disease management in pets. The experts from Japan, Hungary, Singapore, and Vietnam shared insightful strategies on market opportunities and international collaboration.

Views and Statements

After James C.F. Huang, a council chairman, stated, “AI is now a reality that is here to stay.” CEO at Hungarian healthcare company Rextra Kereskedelmi Kft, Geza Reichardt, said, “The local partners need to enter Europe, mainly in the middle of the intricate medical device procurement landscape in eastern and central Europe. The European Union should think to approach a simplified registration process.”

The senior content strategist at Ageing Asia Pte. Ltd., Chrystal Goh, said, “The Asia Pacific region’s ageing population is motivating the industry to discover tech that improves the geriatric population’s quality of life, like interactive gaming solutions and motorized wheelchairs. This will stimulate mobility. Technology is an approach for fueling motivation, activity, and engagement.”
